Plate profiles🍽️: Lepak One Corner (Bobmi) 🍜
Lepak One Corner has been in the buzz⚡for quite some time now. However, should you go there? Today, I will be reviewing one of the stores called Bobmi.
📍1001 Yishun Industrial Park A, #01-1001, Singapore 768743 (Canberra)WHAT IS BOBMI❓
Bobmie is a store that specialises in a dish called Bakmi. According to very accurate sources(Wikipedia👀), bakmi is a chinese style dish using wheat based noodles. But honestly, the best way to put bakmi is Indonesian wanton mee. For Bobmie, one of the twists is that they include sambal ijo or sambal greprek. The difference between sambal ijo and sambal greprek is that ijo is for green chili, and greprek is for red chili. Traditionally, how these sambals are made (if I'm not wrong) is through smashing whole chilies with a mortal and pestle.

FIRST IMPRESSION ☝
The place was busy . In my defense, I came on a Friday night, my bad. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. However do be careful not to where white shoes if you are planning to sit outside, as the grass patches are a little muddy. It was very well lit, and the ambience was a 10 out of 10.
For Bobmi, there wasn't a very long line when I queued, however it did take a while for my order to be done, so just look out for that aspect. There were not too many options, which is good in my opinion. If you are going to specialise in one specific dish, the dish better be good.
TASTE 😋
Having no knowledge of what bakmi is, I can tell you that it is spicy. Personally for me, the main difference between green chilies and red chilies is that green chili is a bit sweeter for me. But at the end of the day, both kinds of sambal makes my nose run.
When you mix everything together, there is a balanced flavour profile. The flavour of the noodles was umami, and you can tell there is kecap manis and soy sauce mixed with fried onions as well. However if you are not a big spicy eater, you would not be able to taste the flavour of the noodles too well. The spice might make your ears hot and make you lose your taste buds. I might be exaggerating, but yes it is spicy. I like how springy the noodles were, and it had a great bite to it as well.
MY TWO CENTS 🪙🪙
Overall, if you are an avid spicy eater 😅like myself, I would totally recommend you to try it out. And even if you are not a fan, you should still try out their non-spicy options as well. The place in general is suitable for all kinds of gatherings in general, so give it a try if you would like.
When I was waiting for my food, I realised that it took a while for the food to come. Turns out, there was only one person in there doing BOTH the cooking and cashiering. When the person before me saw the current order number, they were like WAH in a annoyed tone😒. I felt so bad for the person working there, hopefully there will be more manpower support for the store💪.
With every word I spout, do not take it to heart. Everyone's opinion is valid, but you are the only one that can truly validate your opinions. And that's all for today, bye bye 👋
